Watching the Storm - Ida Slated to Make Landfall in Louisiana
Like everyone along the Gulf Coast, we're monitoring Tropical Storm Ida, which is strengthening in the Caribbean Sea forecasted to make landfall in Louisiana on Sunday night (8/29)/Monday morning (8/30).
Our thoughts and prayers are with our western neighbors and our extended family of friends and guests who live in this area. We have availability for those who wish to move out of the storm's path and stay with us in Destin, Florida. A hurricane watch is in effect from Cameron, Louisiana, to the Mississippi-Alabama state line, including the New Orleans metro area.
A storm surge watch has also been issued from the Texas-Louisiana state line to the Alabama-Florida state line, including Vermilion Bay, Lake Borgne, Lake Pontchartrain, Lake Maurepas and Mobile Bay. This means dangerous flooding from storm surge is possible within the next 48-hours.
If you are scheduled to travel to the beach on Sunday or Monday, we encourage you to monitor conditions on roadways in Georgia, Mississippi, Louisiana and Alabama. Visit the National Hurricane Center for the latest updates regarding Ida's path and plans for landfall. Stay safe and we look forward to welcoming you to the beach!
