It's Time to Plan Your Summer Beach Vacation

While it feels like summer is a long way off, Memorial Day is just weeks away! Now is the time to start planning your summer beach vacation to South Walton and Destin, Florida. Tip 1: Timing is everything

Step one is to select the best week to visit. If you’ve already booked your stay, skip to tip 2. While the summer is a busier time of year at the beach, there are weeks that are a bit more relaxed. Beach vacationers may wish to forego holiday weeks such as Memorial Day and Fourth of July in favor of a quieter holiday such as Father’s Day or non-holiday weeks such as the first week of June or late July.

Tip 2: Enhance your stay with FREE events

One of the best parts of summer are the free concerts and performances at the beach. There are free concerts around town almost every day of the week. Here’s a snapshot:
Tuesdays – Baytowne LIVE in the Village of Baytowne Wharf at Sandestin (June 7-Aug.11)
Wednesdays – Concerts in Seaside Amphitheater at 7 p.m. (June 8- August 26)
Thursdays– Concerts in the Village at the Mattie Kelly Cultural Arts Village in Destin (not free but a great show for only $12 and proceeds support the Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation) 6:30 p.m. (May 5 – June 30)
Thursdays – Red, White & Blue Celebration at HarborWalk Village; Enjoy a free air show by WWII vintage North American T-6 stunt team, a live performance by the Village Belles (inspired by The Andrews Sisters of 1941), fireworks over the Destin Harbor and a fire dancing show finale. 7-9 p.m. (June – Aug. 25)
Saturdays – Rock the Docks at HarborWalk Village, each week 7-9 p.m. (June 11 – Aug. 27)

Tip 3: Download the App.
