Delicious Fall Festivals along the Emerald Coast

Fall is the season for football and food festivals along Florida's Emerald Coast. This weekend is the Fort Walton Beach Barbecue Festival. Foodies will be flocking to the Fort Walton Beach Landing for a delicious array of barbecue and live music from 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. (139 Brooks Street, Ft. Walton Beach).
 
Next weekend, don’t miss Eggs on the Beach EggFest BBQ Competition. On Sept. 26 at Seascape Resort in Miramar Beach, cook teams will be competing for “People’s Choice” award and valuable prizes. Presented by Bay Breeze Patio, Eggs on the Beach will be held from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. and will have 25 cook teams preparing their favorite recipes on the Big Green Egg smoker/grill.

This year, Eggs on the Beach will welcome celebrity judges, including Ray “Dr. BBQ” Lampe and Bad Byron of Bad Byron’s Butt Rub. Dr. BBQ is a successful chef, author, and a familiar face on many popular cooking shows, including Food Network’s “Chopped,” NBC’s “Food Fighters,“ and Food Network’s “Tailgate Warriors with Guy Fieri,” among others. He’s authored eight cookbooks and will be personally signing copies of his newest cookbook, “Flavorize.”
 
Eggs on the Beach is a family-friendly event and will also feature a Kids’ Zone with face painting, live music by Chris Alvarado, and cash bar featuring Abita Beer, wine and sodas. Discounted advance tickets are available at eggsonthebeach.com. Children age 10 and under are free. The event benefits the Fisher House of the Emerald Coast, serving military families during medical treatment. 
 
Also on Sept. 26, Chan’s Wine World & Craft Bar will host the 5th Annual Destin Beer Festival featuring more than 100 beers by local and national breweries. This year, a series of additional events will be held for “Destin Beer Week,” creating a week-long celebration of craft beer. Learn more at http://www.destinbeerfestival.com/.
