We’re enjoying cooler mornings, which means it is time to welcome our Destin snowbirds. Our seasonal guests are very special to us since they make Destin their home away from home for several months and are part of Newman-Dailey’s extended family. 

In an effort to help snowbirds feel at home, we’ve compiled our list of the top 5 things to do once ou arrive at your Destin vacation rental:

Enroll in one of the local Snowbird Clubs.

Both the Destin Snowbirds and Walton County Snowbirds Clubs meet regularly and provide a forum to meet new friends, and learn about community activities and special offers for winter guests.

Go Shopping for Supplies.

Once you’ve arrived, you’ll want to make your Destin vacation rental feel like home. While vacation rentals include basic kitchenware, there may be an item or two that you often use when cooking that will make your stay more comfortable. In addition, you’ll want to head to the grocery store for supplies and groceries. Each rental comes with trial size cleaning products, and a starter roll of paper products in each room. Therefore, those nesting along the Emerald Coast will want to purchase their preferred brands of supplies and groceries shortly after arrival. Plan to Take Advantage of Early Bird Specials in Destin.

Plan a Sightseeing Tour.

One of the best ways to immerse yourself in your winter home is to plan a day (or two) to tour the Emerald Coast. Start at Pier Park in Panama City and head west to see what’s new since your last visit. Travel Hwy 30A to explore the new developments in the beach communities and enjoy the serenity of the state parks. Continue on Hwy 98 to Destin to see what’s new at Destin Commons including construction of a Whole Foods. As you head toward the Destin Harbor, note the return of a Destin classic, the Destin Diner. When you arrive at HarborWalk Village, take time to walk around and explore the new shops and restaurants including Brotula’s & Jackacuda’s. After lunch overlooking the Harbor, consider continuing west to Fort Walton Beach and on to Pensacola if you’re feeling extra adventurous.

Walk the Beach.

Last but definitely not least, in order to truly feel at home simply head south and sink your feet into our soft sand beaches. A leisurely walk in either direction along with the Florida sunshine and salt air will leave you feeling refreshed and invigorated.
