Smoke on the Coast, July 3, at Destin Commons

Summer and grilling go hand in hand so it made perfect sense when we learned that Destin Commons is hosting the 4th Annual Smoke on the Coast BBQ competition on July 3. The fun family-friendly event will be filled with delicious aromas and samples along with kid’s activities and street performers. Live bands, including THE MAXX, Heritage, Jones & Company, Coconut Radio and Chris Alvarado, will be performing throughout the event on two stages. More than 20 local restaurants and BBQ aficionados will join the fun as they present their best dishes from the grill and compete to be named the best.

The event begins at 6 pm, and samples will be sold for $1 (or $20 for those who wish to try every team’s dish). Attendees will vote for “People’s Choice” award winners and proceeds benefit military and local charities. The evening concludes with an Independence Day firework extravaganza.  Free shuttle services will run from Destiny Worship Center and Mattie Kelly Arts Cultural Village/Grace Lutheran church parking areas starting at 4 p.m. For more information, visit www.DestinCommons.com.
