Emerald Coast Blue Marlin Classic, June 19-23

The 2013 Emerald Coast Blue Marlin Classic kicks off today at the Sandestin Marina! Whether you're an angler or a spectator, you'll be lured by the fun events and hooked on watching the weigh-ins. This incredible annual billfish tournament elevates fishing in Destin to a new level!

As the fastest growing billfish tournament on the Gulf Coast, an expected 85 teams will compete for over $1.5 million in cash awards. The annual event offers something for everyone. 

On Tuesday night (6/18), the Baytowne Marina at Sandestin hosts the "Dock Party on A Dock."  The public is invited to meet the teams and see the boats as they prepare for competition. If you miss tonight's event, the docks will be open on Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. On Thursday (6/20), head over to Sandestin to see the boats launch between 3-4 p.m.

On Friday (6/21) and Saturday (6/22), the evening weigh-ins are held between 4-9 p.m. at the Baytowne Marina and are open to the public. In the past several years two blue marlin “Granders” (blue marlin weighing over 1,000 lbs.) have been weighed-in, and state records for blue marlin and bluefin and yellowfin tuna have been broken!

Destin is known as the World's Luckiest Fishing Village, and several lucky anglers will walk away with thousands of dollars and cash awards. Now, that's lucky indeed!
